A Call to Action (CTA) is a voice of the customer.

It’s a button or a link that you add to your website in order to guide your visitor and tell them what to do next. 

The best part? they usually lead to a landing page where the visitor can fill out a form and become a lead.

03. The Death Move

The text you use in your button is one of the keys to making clickable calls to action. Far too often, people opt for basic “Sign Up,” “Subscribe,” or “Submit” buttons.

But frankly, these are dull, boring words. nobody gives a damn about it.

They’ve been used on quite literally every website that’s ever been built since the beginning of the internet. 

And these boring buttons become more dangerous if you’re just starting out because it can put your businesses in the same freaking old stuff list where nobody likes to visit.

I call it death move.

04. So how to craft explosive CTAs?

The one-sentence answer is:

You have to know your ideal clients as you know your best friend.

Let’s say, you are offering a free ebook in exchange for their name and email. 

What will be the call-to-action(CTA) text?

Put yourself in the shoes of your dumbest client ever for a moment and ask yourself: 

But why?” 

But why?” 

“But why?” 

over and over again until you have something better. –

05. Which Colour Should I Use For My CTAs?

Choose bold, contrasting colors.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no ‘best’ color for CTAs. However, Red color buttons can perform better than other color buttons by 60%. And if you can not use red color.

No problem!

Just make sure you use something that stands out. And If the majority of your page has yellow elements – don’t use a yellow button.

Go for something bold contrasting colors: Like

  • Red
  • Orange 
  • Green
  • Pink

06. Add A Timeframe To Create Urgency.

Here’s the deal: if you do not create urgency in your CTA, you’re leaving money on the table.

Make sure the CTA is urgent enough that people won’t want to miss out.

“Get the Guide” or “Get the Guide Now” are two very different things.

“Now” makes the whole thing feel faster and more instantaneous; with the first, there could be some effort involved.

As long as urgency is right for your campaign or business, creating a sense of now or never is a great way to go.

So what’s the bottom line? 

Always use urgency in your CTAs, even it’ small. Like “download now.”

07. A/b Test Your Calls To Action

One of the most critical actions you can perform is to test your CTA’s.

Your CTAs should be no different to your landing pages and forms: you have to test them to improve results continually.

08. Try Using Images And Banner CTA’s

If you have been using the internet for long enough, the chances you might come across these types of image CTA’s.

It uses to be very common in the early days of internet marketing. Those days button use to be very boring and limited in text. 

So the marketor use to hack the buttons and instead uses photoshop to design a fantastic CTA image and links it to its main offer. 

Same as when you click on an ad banner, and it takes you the website or offer.

This is a great way to grab more attention on a page or email than buttons alone can achieve.

WordStream uses contrasting colors with their CTA to make it stand out against the all-blue site. They also reiterate the fact that their product is free to use twice further enticing you to try it out.

It lists several reasons why you’d want to do this, using simple verbs. Finally, the CTA button itself (“Show Me My Heatmap”) taps into the power of using the voice of the customer, making it irresistible.

Join.Me makes it easy for you to immediately start using their product with their button text. Nothing is worse than being at working and waiting what seems like hours for a meeting to start. 

Join.Me’s text understands this pain, making the idea of starting the meeting right now that much more enticing. Paired with the bright orange color and bright green color, this CTA is built to be highly effective.

Technically, this CTA button is not an actual CTA on a page, but instead, it’s a featured banner of a post. But it gradually fits here. That button in red with text “get more conversion now” is an excellent irresistible call to action example.

Okay so so so….

A strong call to action button is as important as your offer, make sure your CTA’s are benefit-driven & stands out from the rest of your content.

Also, the color choice should be bright, and it should create some urgency to see higher conversion.
